The SilverBack story
We’d be remiss if we didn’t pay homage to the Silverback Gorilla itself.
In all of its gentle giant-ness, looks over our estates and every cup of tea that comes from it.
It falls right in the middle of our origin story and hence finds itself smack in the middle of our packaging
The Africa Story
An ode to the terrains of Rwanda and our gorgeous estates. Through distinctive patterns, we have paid homage to the landscape that is the home to our tea. From the foliage, to the wildlife playing peek-a-boo in our estates, we have used our packaging to show you
just where our tea comes from.

This approach is an amalgamation of patterns that are reminiscent of the culture of Rwanda and the humble tea leaf itself
The Community Story
Caring for our communities and respecting the hands and minds that make our teas, and their families and ensuring everyone’s well-being is at the heart of what Silverback Tea stands for. When it comes to the local communities, Rwanda is a model for gender equality. 50% of our workforce is made up of women.
• Training given on plucking tea leaves, irrigation
• Provision of mobile creches on the steepest of ridges to care for their young ones.
• Education of children
• The Pfunda estates have organized Aids awareness camps, constructed basketball courts and made water tank, benefiting about 200 families.
• In Gisovu, a pipeline has been installed to enable 600 families in the village better access to water resulting in reduction in illness and disease.
• The Gisovu community is also home to a strong cricket community with coaching programs and upcoming tournaments, bringing organized sports to Rwanda for the first time.
